Trip Description | This trip consists of 2 hikes in the Reflection Lakes area (46.768183, -121.728632). The hikes are the High Lakes Loop (4-5 miles with a possible side trip to the Narada Falls) and the Bench and Snow Lakes (out-and back, 2.5 miles). We will do the High Lakes hike first and then take a short drive to the Bench/Snow Lakes trailhead for the second hike. We will hike at a moderate pace (1.5-2 mph). Bring at least 3 liters of water and be prepared for changing weather conditions. The trip is on Wednesday to avoid the weekend crowds.
The trip will be limited to 5-12 people depending on the number of entry pass holders (see below) and drivers.** Notice that the signup deadline is July 24th (one week before the trip). This will give the leader time for vetting and organizing the carpool. This year, Mount Rainier National Park has implemented a pilot timed entry reservation system to improve the visitor experience to the park by reducing wait times, congestion, and resource impacts on trails caused by overcrowding. A timed entry reservation is required for two areas of the park (Paradise and Sunrise corridors) from 7am to 3pm (divided in four 2-hour windows: 7 am-9 am, 9 am-11 am, 11 am-1 pm, and 1 pm-3 pm). Each corridor requires a separate vehicle reservation. Timed entry reservations are for good a single day, per vehicle, and are required in addition to an entrance fee or park pass. **6/25/24 The leader has purchased a Paradise Corridor entry pass for the 9am-11am window and will be the driver. Unfortunately, additional entry passes are not available so this trip is limited to 5 people and one car.
