Trip Description | This hike is along the North Fork John Day River outside of North Powder, OR. The trail is popular with backpackers, but not crowded. The trailhead is located in the North Fork John Day Campground, which is at the junction of the Blue Mountain and Elkhorn Scenic Byways. Although not much elevation gain, it will be a long hike.
This was once a big gold mining area and we may get to see the remains of gold mining activity. This hike is in a Wilderness Area, therefore hike is limited to 12 participants. |
