| Trip Description | The hills in the lower Wenatchee River valley are dazzling in late April as the grass turns green and the balsamroot and lupine bloom. To make the most of the long drive, we’ll spend Saturday night in a cabin at the KOA campground near Leavenworth. It sleeps six. If you register, I’ll tell you if there’s room for you in the cabin and suggest alternates if not. You can go home on Saturday if you wish.
On Saturday, we’ll climb 1300’ in two miles to the crest of a ridge offering big views of the lower Wenatchee River valley and the Enchantments. In the foreground are the flowers and scattered Ponderosa Pines. Hikers can walk several miles in either direction along the ridge. On the second day, we’ll either walk up Sauer’s Mountain (6 miles RT, 2000′ gain), Tibbet’s Mountain (7 miles RT, 2900′ gain) or Ollala Canyon (3 miles RT, 700′ gain). Limit 12 participants.
