Trip Description | The hike begins at Coalmine Hill Campground and includes a 7.5 mile loop through open meadows, conifer stands and larch trees. This should be the perfect time of year to see the larches in their golden colors. Points of interest along the trail include the Smith ditch, a canal excavated by the CCC in the early 1930’s and Gibson cave. At one point the trail passes over the summit of little bald mtn. with views of Bald Mtn., Round Mtn. and Willow Creek prairie. |
