Denali (Mt McKinley) is most often seen at a distance while folks are visiting Alaska.
For mountain climbers it has the allure of being only of the fabled “Seven Summits” (highest
point on each continent). It is also remote and cold requiring perhaps the greatest physical
demand for any of the seven summits. After several years of climbing Forrest Heller made a
summit attempt in 2016, which he did not summit. Then after a ten year break he made another
attempt May 2026. Thou this second attempt also didn’t result in a summit it still had many
lessons from this. For this presentation Forrest will talk about his experience and talk more
about some of the unfortunate circumstances on the mountain for the 2026 season.
