| Trip Description | While some IMAC members work on various trails all around the state, our local trails on Badger and Candy Mountains, which are used by 300,000 people every year, also need maintenance and in some cases construction. IMAC therefore organizes IMAC volunteer trail work days each year. This fall we are widening the Skyline Trail just below the summit of Badger. The widening has been roughed out by an excavator, so all that is needed it to separate the rocks from the dirt, toss the rocks into the rock hauler, rake the trail smooth, and add a layer of gravel. We invite you to participate. The work is led by Jim Langdon, the Friends of Badger Mountain Trailmaster. All tools needed are provided for the four hours of trail work. Just bring your work gloves, sun protection, a jacket, snacks, and water. Jim bakes fresh cookies for the morning break.
Why should you help? The pool of trail workers is aging and declining. Strong young trail workers are needed to replace them. The past trail workers gave you the trails you love. Now it’s your turn to give back. If you do, when you walk up a trail that you worked on, you can recall with pride and satisfaction the time you spent building or improving it, and the people you worked with. To sign up for this work party, please register below. If you would like to be added to Jim Langdon’s email list for future trail work days, send Jim an email at Trailmaster@friendsofbadger.org with “add me to your trail work list” in the subject line. Future I-MAC work parties will also be post on the I-MAC events calendar. |
