| Trip Description | Join the Inter-Mountain Alpine Club and Washington Trails Association for an All-Women trail work weekend, May 1st – 3rd. We’ll have a really fun time getting a Hwy 12 or Hwy 410 area trail ready for summer. The work will possibly involve cleaning drains and ditches, brushing, repairing tread, and clearing fallen trees from the trail. Which trail we’ll work on and campground staying at will be decided in the coming months by the Naches Ranger District and WTA. That specific information will be shared when known. The trip is headed up by WTA Volunteer Crew Leader, Lisa Black. If you’ve not worked with WTA before, the following link will give you more information about what to expect. https://www.wta.org/get-involved/volunteer Specific details about what to bring to make it a comfortable weekend will be shared in April. You may also join us for just one day or two or all three. We will be car/camper/trailer camping Friday and Saturday night for those want to work two or three days. The pit toilet will be open, but we’ll have to bring our own water or filtration devices for drinking needs. We’ll meet up somewhere convenient Friday May 1st around 9 am to drop trailers, shuffle into carpools, and then drive to the trailhead. The plan is to all work the same trail and slowly mosey our way up it doing what needs to be done. We won’t expect to get more than a couple miles in, so it should be non-strenuous hiking-wise. Continuing the excellent potluck tradition established over the past three work parties, Friday will be a potluck, and we usually have enough for Saturday too! Everyone brings their own breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.WTA supplies all tools, hard hats, and instruction. You are asked to bring the appropriate clothing for all weather and probable muddy conditions, layers, layers, layers. Please also bring a couple pairs of work gloves, your sturdiest boots/footwear, eye protection (regular glasses and sunglasses are fine), and your sense of humor with a dose of patience. After you sign up via the IMAC website, please contact Nancy Krupin, nkrupin@owt.com and let her know if you are planning on working all three days or which one or two. Lisa needs to know so she can register everyone with WTA. Sign-ups close April 21st so the WTA registration can occur on April 22nd. Carpool mileage cost will be determined when we know the location. If you have trail work related questions, please contact Lisa at either lisa@wta.org or 425-259-1517. If you text, please identify yourself, thanks! |
