| Trip Description | On this four-day basecamping trip, we’ll backpack five miles and gain 1200 feet from the Iron Gate Trailhead to our basecamp at Sunny Pass, elevation 7200’.
We’ll stay there three nights and day hike on the various trails leading west, east and north across gentle meadowed terrain from camp. To the west, we can follow trail 4 miles to Topaz Mtn or 5 miles to Windy Peak. To the east, we can follow trail one mile and walk meadows another mile to the summit of Horseshoe Mtn. To the north, we can follow trail 2 miles and walk up meadows another mile and a half to the top of Armstrong Mtn. Views will be big from all of these peaks. There are also lakes nearby for swimming. Limit 8 people. |
