After a frustrating February in which all of our snow trips were cancelled, five I-MAC members finally enjoyed a day on the snow. Jaynee, Antoine, Nancy, Anu, and Steve followed the road from highway 97 up Red Top Mountain and then glided back down. This was not an easy trip, 8 miles each way gaining 2300 feet of elevation. Fortunately, an inch of fresh snow covered the icy base. While Antoine zipped down with ease, everyone without metal edges on their skis fell at least once along the way. The trip was a particular challenge for Anu, who had never skied before. Steve taught Anu how to fall down, how to shift his weight, and how to snowplow, so with practice he was able to go half a mile without falling. Anu was definitely the most improved skier on the trip.
