The New Year’s Day social had modifications this year. Though everyone enjoys the Chili Feed after the hike, it was not allowed under the current Coronavirus guidelines. Instead, the club provided hot chocolate and cookies on the trail to all participants and guests. The official hike started in the parking lot off Dallas road where Jim Langdon and Chris Wierman offered drinks and cookies for an energy boost to reach the top. Then Jen and Dwight Schoonover were waiting at the top with more drinks and cookies for those who were cold and running low on energy. Although only 22 participants signed the log sheet, many more passing by stopped for refreshments and information. The weather for the
day included an inversion that made the summit 10 degrees warmer than the trailhead and view of the surrounding summits possible. People took the time for photos and conversation with friends before returning to the trailhead.
