Yellowjacket Road, SS-1/2

George Meriwether, george@ghmworld.net

This is a moderate out-and-back trip in the White Pass area and will be about 5-6 miles long with about 500 feet elevation gain. The current plan is to hike on the Yellowjacket Road (Forest Road 1284). We will begin near the maintenance facility about 1 mile west of White Pass and hike to the end of the road. If the weather is clear, we should have a nice view of Mt. Rainier and the Goat Rocks. Snowshoes and poles can be rented locally from I-MAC (call Jim at 509-943-3992, no text), Kennewick REI, or Sporthaus Northwest. As always, bring the Ten Essentials, lunch, water (at least 2 liters), and be prepared for blizzards and rainy conditions (that is, bring rain gear). The trip will be limited to 12 participants (or less depending on drivers’ availability).

Cost is $25 (payable to your driver). No parking permit is required.

Signup deadline is Wednesday, January 5.
