Rattlesnake Slope, DH-2

George Meriwether, george@ghmworld.net

This is a popular hike (about 9 miles RT with about 1800 feet total elevation gain) on the east ridge of Rattlesnake Mountain.  The trip will start from the Rattlesnake Wildlife Recreation Area parking lot off State Hwy 225.  Discover Pass is required.  We will start out on a gently rising road and go on up under the power lines.  The trail parallels the cattle fence and turns uphill with it.  The climb is steep with about 700 feet gain in 0.25 mile.  We will walk along the upper ridge to the ALE boundary fence, have lunch, and head back to the trailhead.  We will hike at a moderate pace.  Bring 2 liters of water, the Ten Essentials, lunch, and be prepared for cold and windy conditions.  The trip is limited to 12 hikers and all participants will be vetted by the leader.

Transportation fee is $3.
