Lake Chelan Shoreline, BP-2

This longtime I-MAC favorite spends three days sauntering 17 miles along the shore of and over bluffs above Lake Chelan. May is the perfect time of year for this, as flowers speckle the meadows amidst the trees. The trip begins with an early three-hour drive to Fields Point Landing at Lake Chelan, boarding the Lady of the Lake at 9:45. After a spectacular voyage up the 6000 foot deep trough of the lake, we disembark the boat at Prince Creek at 11:00, and walk 7 miles through a mix of field and forest to our first camp at Meadow Creek Shelter. The next day is an easy 4 miles to Moore Point, which features remnants of an orchard and a large old hotel. The third day is a 7-mile hike over bluffs (with big views) to Stehekin, the remote village at the upper end of Lake Chelan. Lunch on the deck outside the restaurant is a fine way to savor the charms of this special place. If time permits, we can take the shuttle up the valley to the bakery and/or Rainbow Falls. The Lady of the Lake departs Stehekin at 2:00, returning to Fields Point Landing at 4:45.
Transportation costs are $33 driving and $45 boat (reservations advised)
