Horseshoe Prairie, XC-2

Steve Ghan,

Few Tri-Cities residents know that getting above the Columbia Basin surface inversion layer during winter often rewards adventurers with blue skies, brilliant sunshine, and dry air. This trip will sample the Blue Mountains in an area that is popular with snowshoers and cross-country skiers because snowmobiles are banned. The terrain is quite gentle,
with only 500 feet of elevation gain over the six-mile loop through meadows and open forest. Beginners are welcome. Non-vaccinated participants must drive separately. All participants must bring the ten essentials. Expect to return by 4:00 pm.

The costs are $20 (payable to your driver) plus a shared cost of Sno-Park permit.

Signup deadline is Thursday, January 13.
