Horseshoe Prairie is located across Oregon Highway 204 from Andies Prairie Sno-park, about four miles southeast of the Spout Springs downhill ski area. The area is designated for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing only (read no snowmobiles!!). They have developed some new trails that will be useable for the first time this year. We’ll do 4 of the 5 new trails, a bit of off trail wandering, and then have a long downhill run back to the trailhead. The total route will be about 5.7 miles with an elevation gain of about 500’. Please come well prepared: bring adequate protection from sun, wind, cold, (no cotton clothing) rain and snow. As always, bring the Ten Essentials, a lunch and plenty of fluids.
